Xynthetic goes commercial

news 30 April 2007 | Comments Off

Well, not really commercial, but at least paid. Xynthetic announces that they have signed a deal with IRIS promotion for the digital distribution of Xynthetic Music releases through such channels as iTunes, BeatPort and Bleep. The netlabel which features free releases will not stop, but will however start focussing on label compilations, that showcase the music available from the paid releases.

It’s a shame to see such a good label as Xynthetic move away from free releases and into the world of paid releases. But with music as good as that which is released by Xynthetic, it was only a matter of time until money was to be seen.

Sound of Silver out now!

news 18 April 2007 | Comments Off

March 20 saw the release of the new album by LCD Soundsystem, whose debut album has already received the ‘legendary’ status. Now, only two years later, we can enjoy even more of those wonderful tunes.

“Sound of Silver” finds LCD Soundsystem further expanding its sonic palette, taking its experimental impulses to wild new places but also firmly establishing itself as a singularly great pop group. Here, pulsing beats, abstract funk, crystal melodies and towering walls of sound combine to create a sound genuinely like no other.

New Thinner releases

news 17 April 2007 | Comments Off

13.04.2007 [THN093] Sensual Physics – The Thin Girl
>> >> FILE UNDER: Warm Hypnotic Dub Movers
http://www.thinner.cc/releases.php?r=thn093
ALREADY REVIEWED ON NET.ELECTRONICMUSICWORLD.COM

Originally the four tracks on “The Thin Girl” derive from a live set which Joerg used to play as Sensual Physics. These tracks conjure up memories or moments that link to infinitesimal frozen slices of time, created to last indefinitely. Being influenced by the time being, these four parts of the original live set have been rejuvenated and renewed. In re-recording each piece, Joerg carves out the essence of the original track and builds on that.

08.03.2007 [THN092] Christian Dittmann – Emporio
>> >> FILE UNDER: Elusive Organic Minimalism
http://www.thinner.cc/releases.php?r=thn092

Beyond the obvious musical influences of techno and dub, the elements of “Emporio” are of two kinds. The first ingredient is explicit and definable whereas the second is intrinsic, almost mystical – rooted in the experiences and emotions of it’s creator – and only revealed in a minimal way.

(7 tracks – 47min 52sec – 67.40 MB)

08.03.2007 [THN090] VA – Demo Tracks
>> >> FILE UNDER: Raw & Dirty Demo Takes
http://www.thinner.cc/releases.php?r=thn091

Compilations tend to be wrapped within a theme. This compilation
deliberately does it without an artificial title, as these are raw and
‘dirty’ takes of functional techdub grids and patterns. Most productions have been hiding in our sheleves for quite a while, so this release is a reminiscence to the classic thinner sound, predominantely dubbed out until mid 2005.

(8 tracks – 55min 15sec – 77.80 MB)

05.01.2007 [APL041] Klotzsch & Sudermann – Holzlaub
>> >> FILE UNDER: Electroacoustic Metaimprovisations
http://www.thinner.cc/releases.php?r=apl041

Symbolic of the organic atmosphere emerging from these recordings, the album title “Holzlaub” translated literally means “Wooden Leaves”, and the song titles themselves are the Latin names of trees which had bloomed as the songs were being created. At its core, “Holzlaub” is a blend of sampled classical-style guitar sounds (and other chance noises) as improvised by Raimund along with the deliberate sharing and processing of these samples via synchronized PowerBooks where intuition and feelings were important ingredients. In addition, the congenial atmosphere of Raimund’s apartment in
which most of these songs were conceived and took their final form, is sure to have contributed to the organic ambiance that is clearly prevalent.

This time around we have two of the Electro scene’s legends with Ultradyne flying all the way from Detroit to play masked-up dark brooding electro live! We also have UK techno scene originators and Warp Records artists B12 playing their stripped back acid-infused deep techno live. MANASYt flies in from Bulgaria to show why his releases were some of the most sought after of 2006, and Dubstep hot property N-Type will rattle the rafters!
