dj toshio - the turntablist (Bump foot)

★★★★☆
Groovy and soulful house on this latest gem from the Bump foot label. Japanese DJ Toshio is a star at making funky house tracks that have a lot of soul. Highly enjoyable, works well on the dancefloor, but also very nice to simply listen to.

risey - memories of thailand (Toucan Music)

★★★½☆
Very pleasant release with two mixes. The original mix is a breakbeat track which is a bit short but works well. The Beat Doctor remix is even more pleasant, in it’s housey feeling. Will work well on the dancefloor! Only downside to both tracks is the very abrupt ending.

cd-r - vesna (Electrosound.ru)

★★★★☆
Rich glitchy IDM. Great work with stereo. This must sound mind-blowing in a live performance setting. Minimal, yet rich in texture. Wow!

nick zero - extrem solution (zimmer records)

★★★★½
This 4-track release by Nick Zero has much of the WOW-factor. He brings to us some very nice refreshing techno, that you can not stop listening to once you press play. Quite overwhelming, excellent stuff. Words can not describe. Go, and listen.

sascha müller - last train to radio ga ga (Pharmacom)

★★½☆☆
After having heard Tales of Mystery and Schlachtfest, this one takes you by surprise. Don’t expect any of the regular Sascha Müller-material on this release. Instead, it’s very experimental, very ambient. Even though it has it’s moment, I feel Sascha should stick to what he does best: Hard banging tracks.

Monuloku - “Birdfish EP” (Gargan Netlabel)

★★★★☆
Well…..if the first track on this banging EP doesn’t make you want to move those feet there must be something fundamentally wrong with your ears! Or your feet! “The bird which became a fish” is an outstanding piece of house music, with archetypal electro bassline. Followed by “Insects”, a dark breakbeat affair with enough funk in its bass to leave James Brown gasping for more, this EP is polished off with “Birdfish” - a floor to the floor house number, and a funked-up remix of “The bird which became a fish”. I’ve died and gone to heaven!

("Monuloku - "Birdfish EP" (Gargan Netlabel)")

Droog - “Name your poison” (Norbu Netlabel)

★★★☆☆
A more than half decent minimalist creation at the hands of Droog, which has its bar metaphorically raised by the brilliantly dark, moody and subtley ill-at ease nature of “Drencom”. Full of dicsordant beats, dark atmospherics and haunting effects, this is definitely worth a listen.

distance and materials - patterns (Vorbic)

★★★★☆
Beautiful atmospheric and funky electronica that is hard to categorize except for “excellent”. Very nice rhythms, beautiful melodies. Music for long listening sessions.

sascha müller - schlachtfest ep (Säurebad)

★★★½☆
Did I ever mention hard? Säurebad is a new label dedicated to the 303, and you’ll know it. Sascha shows that he knows how to work the 303, but also knows his drum machines. Well done hard house.

("sascha müller - schlachtfest ep (Säurebad)")

polarproject - no name lp (decisive sound records)

★★★½☆
Nice experimental electronica, ranging from quite ambient to really IDM-ish. Lots of blips and bleeps, so lovers of those will be happy. Enough atmosphere to capture you into the music. Reflections sounds very Orb-ish, to give a comparison. But that’s only a single comparison, the range of styles is too big to just go with this one. So one advice: Download it!
